Dr. Tony Brandolino
In addition to his role as Principal Conductor of the Liberty Symphony Orchestra, Dr. Brandolino conducts the Jewell Chamber Orchestra and teaches violin at William Jewell College. Dr. Brandolino serves as Substitute Conductor for the Kansas City Youth Symphony, and has appeared as conductor with the Philharmonia of Kansas City, Sioux City Symphony, Spoleto Festival Orchestra, and for pop artists such as The Association. He served nine years as Orchestra Director of the Central Missouri State University Symphony and has conducted orchestra clinics throughout the region.
A native of suburban Chicago, Tony attended the Interlochen Arts Academy and earned degrees from Northwestern University and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Several articles based on his dissertation, "A Study of Orchestral Audition Repertoire for Violin", have been published in journals including The American String Teacher.
Brandolino has served as Concertmaster of the Liberty Symphony, Philharmonia of Kansas City, and the Spoleto Festival Orchestra. He has performed for various artists including Ray Charles, Itzhak Perlman, Mikhail Barishnikov, and on albums by Motown singer James Brown. He appeared with the Spoleto Orchestra in its 1984 Grammy-Winning recording of Samuel Barber's Opera "Antony and Cleopatra" on the New World label. Tony occasionally performs as a substitute with the Kansas City Symphony and this past March he played a recital of American music at Belvoir Castle in Woolsthorpe, England.
Tony lives in Kansas City with his wife, Amy, and their two children, Gabriel and Alessandra.
