      <title>LSO High School Artist Competition Scheduled for April 15th</title>

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;b&gt;The LSO High School Artist Competition is scheduled for April 15, 2012.&amp;nbsp; The competition begins at 3:30 p.m.&amp;nbsp; Once we receive your application, you will be notified of your audition time.&amp;nbsp; The location will be in Forbis Recital Hall in the Pillsbury Music Center at William Jewell College.&amp;nbsp; Practice rooms are on the 100-level of Pillsbury.&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;b&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Eligibility&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p&gt;Contestants must be residents of Missouri or Kansas and must not have won the competition in previous years.&amp;nbsp; Open to public and private school and homeschool pianists, orchestral/band instrumentalists, and vocalists currently in the 9&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt;, 10&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt;, or 11&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; grade.&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Music&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;Music selected for the competition must have an orchestral accompaniment available for purchase or rental in the United States.&amp;nbsp; Check the following online resources: Luck’s Music Library, Kalmus, Boosey &amp;amp; Hawkes, G. Schirmer, and European American Music.&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Performance Selection&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;Instrumentalists should choose one movement or solo work not to exceed 10 minutes.&amp;nbsp; Vocalists should choose a song or aria not to exceed 10 minutes.&amp;nbsp; Contestants must audition on the piece or song they intend to perform with the orchestra in the upcoming season.&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Memory&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;Performances need to be memorized.&amp;nbsp; The audition must be performed in person with an accompanist hired by the contestant.&amp;nbsp; Both audition and performance must be memorized.&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Competition&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;The competition will take place in Forbis Recital Hall in Pillsbury Music Center on the campus of William Jewell College.&amp;nbsp; Business casual dress for contestants is recommended.&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Fee&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;There will be a $20.00 performance fee payable to Liberty Symphony Orchestra.&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Audition Committee&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;The audition committee includes the conductor of the Liberty Symphony, or his representative, and one additional judge.&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Winners&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;One or two winners will be chosen to perform with the Liberty Symphony Orchestra on the Holiday&amp;nbsp;Concert in 2012.&amp;nbsp; In the event that there is no winner, there will not be a high school solo artist with the orchestra that season.&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Availability&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

  &lt;p style="text-align:justify"&gt;The winner must be available for the performance and for all rehearsals related to the performance.&lt;/p&gt;
